074 - Learn to Speak German - The End

This is the last session of German-Podcast.de. I just don't have the time for all my interests and need to cut back on some of them and as there is already such a large amount of material available for you to pratice your German . . . well, I will not continue with the podcast.

Hi Stephen,
It's sad to hear that you are no longer continuing with the podcast. Over the last year I have managed to get through over half of the podcasts. (I'm on number 39 now.) The good news is that I now know I will be able to catch up!

Good luck with your other activities and thanks for the time you spent helping complete strangers. We appreciate it.

Vince.

That's a shame, Stephan. Your podcast was very unique and different - I've not found any other resource of bite sized German lessons which help to build vocabulary in such a useful way. All good things come to an end, eh?

That said, best of luck in the future and hopefully you'll return to this sometime in the future.

All the best
Carl

I too have just discovered this and find it very useful. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Stephan, I totally understand - If you enjoy as many activities as you do PLUS work full-time, there is just no extra time left. But we appreciate the time you have already put into helping people like us. Like Vince said, now I might be able to catch up! And who knows, maybe we'll see you out in the mountains of Switzerland, climbing, skiing, or whatever... Thanks again! VIELEN Dank!

I literally just came across german-podcast.de this week and subscribed in ITunes. To my great disappointment the first automatic download was titled "The End". So here is my dilemma:

I just completed #5 in which Julia is running late and Hans is casually waiting for her at the bar in the airport. I'm just starting to get into the story, and I want to keep doing the next lesson to see what happens to Hans and Julia, but now that I know the podcast is coming to an end, I feel like I should slow down and enjoy the suspense. If I go too quickly, the story will end and then what will I do??

Sad to see the podcast ending, Stephan. I'm looking forward to going through all the lessons, and I'm sure I will be even more disappointed when I come to the end. Thanks for all the time you put into this site!

Dave

Stephan...I began listening just less than a year ago as I prepared to visit family in Bavaria with my three children. I had not studied German for almost 30 years but by using your podcasts, I was able to pick up basic German very quickly. I had the best time of my life with my children (ages 20-26) as they discovered their German roots. Thank you for your part in making that trip a most memorable one. I will miss your podcasts and wish you the very best in life. You always have a place to stay in Austin Texas!

Hi stephan,
I always enjoyed your podcast. It became clear that you were too busy in recent months. Thats sad for us, but I hope exciting for you.

I hope you won't be offended if I recommend another excellent independent "learn german" podcast for fellow subscribers. I'ts called "Slow German" by Annik Rubens.

I just bought the book "Learn German with a Story: Welcome to Switzerland". I found many quotation marks look weird, like these:

Peter shakes his head.
„Where is your luggage?”
„Lost, they will send it after me.“

Are those typos or the way how quotation mark works in German?

Stephan Wiesner said...

Yes, indeed. We use those quotation marks. No idea why they look different in other countries (France too)

Thanks Stephan. I think this has been one of the language learning podcasts I have enjoyed the most. Your sharp humour, gentle irony, etc., was a constant... I look forward to catching-up and chatting some day. Take care,

Hi Stephan,

Just wanted to say thanks for putting in the effort to do all this, I can totally understand that it must take up a lot of your time. 74 podcasts is a real achievement mate, and I really enjoy your podcasts even though I doubted if I'd be able to learn much from them at first. Best of luck in the future!

I am on lesson 10 now, so please dont delete until I get through it.

Hello good day to you!

I’ve read your blog and find it very much interesting. Can you do me a favor? Can I ask you to post my link in your blogroll/sidebar? In return with that I’ll write an article for you which are related to your blog. In this way, we both can benefit since there would probably more visitors in your blog and mine as well. It would be my pleasure if you will accept my request. Thanks in advance!
